Styling session for handbags and gift packaging

At Snapshot Studio, we carried out another product photography session, this time focusing on gift bags, decorative packaging and materials used for elegant product wrapping. During the session, we created arranged product photos that presented the packaging not only as a practical element, but also as an important part of brand identity.
Gift bags and packaging are often the customer’s first point of contact with a product. Before the buyer even sees the item itself, they notice the way it is presented: the colours, paper texture, prints, finishing details, handles, ribbons and decorative elements. For this reason, good photographs of such products should capture not only their visual qualities, but also the atmosphere they create around the brand.
During this session, we prepared photos with additional styling elements that referred to the character of individual brands and products. As a result, the packaging was shown in a more natural and sales-oriented context — as part of the complete shopping experience, rather than merely as a separate object photographed against a neutral background.

Gift packaging photography – why is it so important?
In online sales, catalogues, social media and advertising, packaging plays a key role. It not only protects the product, but also evokes emotions, highlights quality and influences the customer’s first impression. In the case of premium goods, gift sets, cosmetics, accessories, jewellery or seasonal products, the right presentation of packaging can significantly increase the appeal of the offer.
A good photograph of a gift bag or packaging should show:
- the shape, size and proportions of the product,
- the quality of the material and the structure of the paper,
- colours that accurately reflect the real appearance,
- print details, logo, handles and finishing,
- possible uses of the packaging in a gift-related context,
- the character of the brand associated with the packaging.
During this session, we focused on making the photos not only aesthetic and elegant, but also practical from a sales perspective. The goal was not only to create an attractive composition, but also to prepare materials that the client could use on their website, in social media, in a product catalogue or in advertising campaigns.

Arranged photos of bags and packaging – what benefits do they bring to clients?
Arranged product photos make it possible to present a product in a context that is closer to real-life use. A bag shown against a plain background only presents its appearance. However, a photo placed in the right setting shows what emotions it can evoke, what products it can be associated with and what style of communication it supports.
For companies and packaging manufacturers, such photographs offer several key benefits:
1. They increase the perceived value of the product — A carefully planned arrangement can make even a simple item appear more elegant and professional.
2. They help customers imagine how the packaging can be used — The customer can more quickly understand what a given bag or box may be used for: a gift, a product set, retail sales or premium shipping.
3. They strengthen the visual consistency of the brand — Colours, accessories and composition can refer to a specific industry, season or brand style.
4. They enhance the appeal of the product range online — On e-commerce platforms and marketplaces, a photo often influences the customer’s decision to click on a product. Arranged photos can help the offer stand out from the competition.
5. They provide additional material for marketing activities — A single photo session can deliver materials for a website, social media, banners, advertisements, catalogues, leaflets and sales presentations.
Packaging as part of the shopping experience
Today, customers pay attention not only to what they buy, but also to the way it is presented. Attractive packaging can create associations with attention to detail, higher quality and greater purchase value. This is especially important in industries where the first impression plays a key role, such as cosmetics, handmade products, jewellery, soft drinks, candles, accessories, clothing, gift sets or Christmas products.
That is why, when photographing packaging, it is worth thinking more broadly than just about the product itself. The mood, lighting, props, background, composition and consistency with the brand image are all important. If a gift bag is meant to evoke associations with elegance, the photograph should be subtle, carefully refined and aesthetically pleasing. In the case of colourful, youth-oriented or seasonal products, a more vibrant arrangement can be used.

How do we create photos of gift bags and gift packaging?
We begin each session for these products by understanding their characteristics. We analyse the colours, texture, size, type of print, finishing and the target group the offer is aimed at. Based on this, we choose the background, lighting and props.
In packaging photography, paying attention to details is essential. Paper bags, boxes and packaging reflect light in different ways and easily reveal any creases, bends or imperfections. That is why during the session we focus on proper product positioning, a flattering shooting angle and lighting that highlights the shape without creating unwanted reflections.
Props matched to the brand
In this project, we used accessories that referred to the brands and products for which the packaging was created. Thanks to this, each photo gained a unique character. This way of working is especially effective when a brand wants to show not only the product itself, but also the style in which it communicates with its customers.
For example, a packaging photo session may include:
- products that could be placed inside the bag or box,
- elements related to the brand’s colour palette,
- seasonal decorations, such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day or First Communion elements,
- premium materials, including fabrics, decorative paper, ribbons or natural accessories,
- industry-related props that immediately create the context of use.
Thanks to such elements, the photographs become more sales-oriented. The customer sees not only the packaging itself, but also the whole situation in which it can be used.

Product and arranged photos – the perfect combination for sales
The best results in online sales can be achieved by combining different types of photos. A packshot on a light or white background presents the product in a simple and clear way. An arranged photo creates emotions and illustrates how the product can be used. Close-ups of details highlight the quality of workmanship, while group photos make it possible to show the full range of designs or colour variants.
In the case of gift bags and gift packaging, such a set of photos can be extremely useful for manufacturers, distributors, online stores and brands selling products ready to be given as gifts. Carefully prepared photographs can present the offer effectively on a website, in a B2B store, in a seasonal catalogue, in an advertising campaign or on marketplace platforms.

Product photography for e-commerce, catalogues and social media
Photos of gift bags and decorative packaging can be used in many different ways. One type of shot will be suitable as the main product image in an online store, another will work better in promotional campaigns, and yet another as a social media post. For this reason, it is worth determining already at the planning stage of the session where the photos will later be used.
At Snapshot Studio, we prepare our materials so that they can work effectively for clients across various sales and communication channels. This means that we pay attention not only to the visual side, but also to the usability of the photos: the right angles, space for text, horizontal and vertical formats, and the possibility of using the photographs in banners, advertisements and product descriptions.

Summary
The photo session for gift bags and packaging showed how important the way even the simplest products are presented can be. Carefully prepared arranged photos can highlight a brand’s personality, increase the appeal of the offer and help customers more quickly imagine how a given product can be used.
At Snapshot Studio, we create product photos, arranged images and advertising materials for companies that want to present their products more effectively online, in catalogues, on social media and in promotional campaigns. In the case of gift packaging, every detail, aesthetics and brand consistency matter — that is why each session is carefully planned so that the photos not only look attractive, but also genuinely support sales.
