Good photos - what makes them sell products?
Professional product photos - the basis for effective product sales!
As the popularity of online shopping continues to grow, so too does competition among online retailers. One of the more effective ways to secure customer interest is to properly display and promote products through professional photos.
Why is product photography so important?
It doesn't take a huge amount of marketing knowledge and experience to understand why nice product photography is important to secure high sales. Customers are visual, so they will look for products that look good in photographs. No one will be encouraged to buy by a photograph that is blurry, out of focus or, worse still, that presents the goods in question in an unattractive way. The main sin of private and "bargain" sellers is that they do not put effort into preparing good photographs. More often than you might imagine, pictures of crumpled clothes, dirty shoes or dusty white and brown goods end up on online auction sites. Such mistakes are unlikely to be allowed by serious online shops. Photos on Amazon or photos on Allegro have to be attractive for the recipients in order for the seller to compete at all. As we all know, the competition on such auction portals is enormous.
What kind of advertising images are most appealing to customers?
The best catalogue photos are those that present the product in as much detail as possible. Take clothing images as an example. Customers searching through shops and online auctions for shirts, trousers, jumpers or underwear will certainly pay attention to the offer of those shops, where the photos of clothing elements are large, clear and present the given item from many perspectives. After all, when we buy clothes, we want to know what they look like from the front, back and side. We also pay attention to the details. The best and nowadays one of the most popular methods of presenting clothes in photos are ghost photos, in other words photos on invisible mannequins. They allow the potential customer to imagine how they will look in the garment, which is very important if you do not have the opportunity to try it on before buying.
Product photography - what else is worth bearing in mind?
In order to be perceived professionally, large-scale online shops need to ensure a consistent image. This applies above all to the photographs used. It is very desirable and well received by customers to present products in a similar convention - against the same background, in the same settings, etc. Care should also be taken to ensure that all available variants are well displayed. For example, if a particular blouse is available in many colours, they must all be presented in separate photographs. Photographs of models in the same pose, where the only difference is the colour of the garment, can be suspect. Also interesting are rotating product photos or short videos of the model walking around in the clothes, shoes, jewellery etc. offered by the shop.
As you can see, preparing interesting product photographs requires a lot of preparation, regularity, knowledge, equipment and skills, so it is worth leaving their execution to experienced professionals.
